Real Estate in New Jersey
There are many reasons to choose to live in New Jersey. Some recent television shows like the Housewives of New Jersey and the Sopranos tried to give a negative stereotype, but even past these jokes, New Jersey remains a state which is attractive to those looking for jobs that pay above average rates, high quality education and health care, outstanding leisure activity choices, great restaurants, diverse geography and a wonderful place to raise the kids. If you are looking to purchase property and want a quick property appraisal you will find that New Jersey is not the least expensive state in which to reside, but the state does boast the nation’s very best municipal and state services which contribute to a strong infrastructure that helps to support a high quality of life and a safe environment.
Quality Health Care
New Jersey residents are expected to live longer than residents in any other state in the US. One reason for this is that there is easy access to healthcare. New Jersey is ranked #8 out of the 50 states for the number of physicians per 1000 residents; and is ranked 7th lowest for infant mortality. Some of the best medical facilities and physicians in the world are just across the river in Philadelphia and New York.
Lower Crime Rates
New Jersey has the densest population of all the states in the United States but is one of the safest of all of them. The Center for Public Integrity stated in their 2012 report that New Jersey is the state with the least amount of corruption. The state is one of the safest places to live as they rank very low for property crime as well as violent crime. New Jersey has outstanding law enforcement departments as well as crime protection provided by the state and municipalities.
Great Schools
When it comes to education, New Jersey tops them all. They are ranked first out of the 50 states in graduation rates. They also have a very low student/teacher ratio. In Millburn, which is close to the Short Hills district, has the number one public high school in the state according to New Jersey Monthly magazine. A very large percentage of those who graduate from Millburn High School end up being accepted to some of the nation’s top universities and colleges. Many people move to this area simply for the education their children will receive. The state is also home to PrincetonUniversity as well as numerous other higher learning institutions.
New Jersey Entertainment
Even though the state is small in size, it boasts world class entertainment possibilities. There is the very popular Boardwalk in Atlantic City which attracts thousands of tourists every year and borders the beach for a full six miles; and hosts the Miss America Pageant each year. Since 1976, there have been plenty of hotel casinos to enjoy such as the Trump Taj Mahal. The state has two professional football teams, one NBA team and a professional hockey team.
Diverse Geography
As far as geographic diversity, New Jersey has just about everything. Beaches line the East Coast, Northwester New Jersey has beautiful mountains and hills, and Cape May offers residents and visitors a quaint Victorian town. Any attraction is usually less than one hour’s drive no matter where you are located in the state. The famous, National Geographic Magazine labeled New Jersey as “America in Miniature” because of the diversity found across the small state. Property values run a little higher in the state, but most residents feel that the higher cost of living is offset by the higher quality of life.
